Does a Conservation Officer have the authority to search your vehicle with out a search warrant, either federal or state?

The authority for this is found in NJSA 23:10-20
which states, " A member of the Fish and Game
Council and any conservation officer may, without
warrant search and examine any boat, conveyance,
vehicle, fish box, fish basket, game bag, game coat
or other receptacle for game and fish, when he has
reason to believe that a provision of this Title,
or any law supplementary thereto, or any State Fish
and Game Code has been violated...". If
a warrantless search is conducted the officer could
be required to explain the circumstances that lead
him to believe that a violation had taken place at
the probable cause hearing.
